"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Mark 10:14
About Our Nurseries
We believe your child is a special gift from God, it is our goal to provide a safe, loving Christ-centered environment for both you and your child. Our nurseries are staffed with CPR and first-aid certified workers.
Our Infant and Little Lamb Nurseries open at 8:30 am for worship services. The nurseries are located on the first floor of the Children and Youth Building.
Infant Nursery (6 wks to 17 months)
This nursery is equipped with changing tables, cribs, high chairs, bouncy seats, rocking chairs and a variety of safe, age-appropriate toys. Soothing background music is played in the nursery to help create a warm, nurturing environment.
Little Lambs (18 months— 3 years)
The Little Lambs room allows your child to make the transition from nursery to Kids Church. We have a monthly theme (for example - “I See God’s Love at Church”). The children will have a very short Bible story that will be read each Sunday of that month and a mini activity to follow that reinforces this concept. We send home a “Parents Homepage Sheet” each month so parents have access to the theme, Bible story, and song(s) we use. The Little Lambs room is equipped with a changing table, a child’s size restroom, and a variety of safe, age-appropriate toys. A mid-morning snack (crackers and water/juice) is provided to the Little Lambs.
Check In & Out Procedures
A sign-in sheet is located just outside the Nursery rooms. All children must be signed in to the appropriate nursery room and parents must take a pager with them. Upon signing in, each child will be given a name tag that will be worn on the child’s back for security purposes. In case of an emergency, or if your child needs your attention, we will page you. Please keep the pager near you; the pagers do not beep, they simply vibrate. When picking your child up from the nurseries please return the pager and child’s nametag.
~ Please clearly label all of your child’s personal items with his/her name. Some suggestions for your diaper bag to make your child’s stay more enjoyable and comfortable: extra diapers/pull-ups, pacifier, change of clothes, bottle with measured formula, baby food, bib and favorite “lovey”.
~ NurseryCare Providers are happy to warm a bottle or to feed an infant baby food. Our Little Lambs receive a small snack and juice or water. Please notify a nursery staff member immediately if you child has an allergy or if you would prefer your child not recieve church snacks. (In these instances, please feel free to send a small snack from home, clearly labeled with your child’s name.)
~ Please do not bring fast food (McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, etc.) into the nursery rooms. This tends to be very distracting to other children.
~ Our nursery staff is very loving and willing to assist in the potty training process. If your child is potty training, due to sanitation purposes, we ask that your child wear a diaper or pull-up while in the nursery. Please send an extra change of clothes and pull-ups.
~ Your child may cry when left with us in the nursery. This reaction is a normal, healthy show of preference for parents. The child’s fussing usually stops within a few minutes and becomes less common with regular attendance. If your child does not settle down, we will page you to prevent further upsetting your child.
~ Please be prompt in picking up your child at the end of Worship Service/class, etc., and return your pager to its proper location.
To protect the health of all children and our Nursery Care Providers, please do no bring a sick child to the nursery. Some signs of illness are:
~ Coughing, sneezing
~ Runny nose/eyes
~ Temperature of 99%F or higher in the past 24 hours
~ Rash or open sores
~ Inflamed mouth or throat
Children do not have to “automatically” start attending Kid’s Church after their 3rd birthday. Children must be potty trained to attend Kid’s Church. Some children are ready to leave the nursery when they turn 3 years old, while others may not. Parents should decide whether or not they feel that their child is ready to start attending to Kids Church. We do ask that by 4 years old, your child make the transition from Little Lambs to Kids Church.
We hope you feel confident that your little one will receive loving care and understanding. Ask us about any of our policies and procedures. We are happy to answer your questions.
