William joined St. John’s in 2024 and directs the church’s chorister program. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in organ performance from the University of South Carolina and has performed recitals across the country.

Our Allen organ is a custom designed GX-235 with two manuals and 47 stops, including the optional Genisys Voices.  A walnut console was chosen and includes rosewood sharps, and drawer pulls. Every part is made and crafted in Macungie, PA and sets the standard for organ building in the 21st-century.

ABOUT WILLIAM DOUGLAS:
William Douglas joined the staff of St. John’s Church, Savannah, in 2024 as Organist & Choirmaster. In this role, he directs the chorister program, which features choirs for girls, boys, and adults. William also works closely with the clergy to plan and execute all parish liturgies.
William is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in organ performance as a pupil of Dr. Jared Johnson. He also studied continuo and harpsichord with Dr. Jerry Curry. William was a recipient of the Summerall Award from the USC School of Music.
Prior to joining the St. John’s staff, William served on the staffs of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Columbia, SC, and The Cathedral of All Saints, Albany, NY. As a performer and educator, William has given recitals across the country and offered lectures and masterclasses on hymn-playing and improvisation.
Outside of St. John’s, William enjoys diverse interests such as reading, camping, cooking, auto mechanic work, hiking, and watching movies.
